People may be surprised to hear that life in Tehran isn't that different from life in other countries. However, there are some characteristics that make it slightly different. Firstly, air pollution. It's no secret that Tehran is a polluted city. Although it hasn't got some of the worst rates of pollution it is quite high. Not only does it cause the ill health but also prevents the stunning views from being observed clearly. The mountains in Tehran also make it different. There are plenty of steep roads and when snow falls the mountains look incredible. If you travel northwards in Tehran the pollution lessens which allows you to really see the full beauty of the place. The mountains also make Tehran a great place to go skiing and hiking for a good few days break. Day-to-Day life is also made easy by low cost public transportation. Even for the less fortunate living in Tehran, getting around isn't really a problem. You will pay less than 7 dollars in a taxi and they will take you all around the city! The metro and bus are even cheaper. For such a big city, transportation is crucial and is a major appeal when you want to minimise your spends on travelling to work. Perhaps it's not great if you are working or looking to work in Tehran, but working hours are long. People typically start working around 7:30-8am and usually finish way gone midnight. This means that the city is always alive and bustling, leaving you without a chance to get bored. Last but not least, the weather. The four seasons are distinct in Tehran. In the summer it's hot and in the winter it's cold. You can enjoy snow in the winter and admire the blossoming trees in the spring. What more could you need? So, Tehran may not be quite so different but it definitely has some characteristics that makes it worth visiting.
